The bank of a changing world

A Credit Analyst, within Corporate Banking, studies requests for credit in the international BNP Paribas network for amounts that may exceed the levels our smaller offices have the capacity to deal with. The analyst therefore has to examine and process information before decisions are made.
The analyst's main job is to collect information, financial or otherwise, for and about the companies (large organisations or multinationals) which are in his portfolio. If one of his clients requires credit, he begins a detailed analysis of their financial situation and offers an opinion as to whether it should be given or not.
Due to both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of his findings, he is able to give a quote on the level of risk the company carries. The analyst also keeps a keen eye on the state of management; he monitors the general state of the economy in the company's country and shifting trends in the industry as well as any likely tax changes. He studies the profitability of various operations under specific conditions, and then presents his findings to the management on their completion.
The analyst must be naturally inquisitive and endowed with the ability to make a substantiated critique of his client's dossiers. Being thorough and comprehensive should be one of the principal qualities, as well as being able to rapidly examine and then evaluate a great deal of information. The analyst has to rapidly adapt his methods of evaluation, depending upon both the nature and the importance of the information in hand.
