The Business Advisor is responsible for a portfolio of clients, made up exclusively of businesses and firms. His role is primarily advisory, but he also has to analyse client risk and then offer an appropriate credit scheme.
The Business Advisor manages his portfolio, nurtures relations with his clients and strengthens his position with them. He is very much involved in the day to day managing of his client's portfolio, trying to reduce risk and maximise profitability. He monitors the levels of risk within his portfolio of companies, negotiating with clients in order to ensure that procedures, which are being carried out, are within BNP Paribas' best interests. He thus keeps a keen eye on the profitability of his clients and undertakes any necessary steps to ensure this.
With a complete knowledge of his client's previous dealings with BNP Paribas, he identifies the specific needs of his clients and co-ordinates these with a specific banking service: merger and acquisition consultancy, advice about floating stock on the Stock exchange, International Trade... He guarantees that the quality of service, which is provided for the client, is as high as it can be. He is the source of ideas and proposals, which will improve organisational procedure and reduce inefficiency.
The Business Advisor has a role, which is essentially commercial; thus he needs good interpersonal and negotiation skills. Being responsible for the credit which has been offered to his clients, he has to have an extremely sound understanding of risk in all of its forms. He has to take the initiative, be autonomous and make swift, effective decisions. He is the corner stone in maintaining relations with the bank's subsidiary companies, working closely with the Head of Corporate Clientele.
