The bank of a changing world

My role is very much one of a middleman between programmers and the project manager. It involves organising the details of each project and defining the operating procedure for the computer systems that have to be set up, the time it will take and trouble-shooting.
I then amass information from the programmers who are in my team - they have to translate the various functions into computer language. I am basically responsible for making sure that things run smoothly. On top of this role of team administrator and project analyst, my job is also reasonably technical. I must ensure that applications and tools are running smoothly, which means testing them before their installation and checking the programming.
Information Technology is continually evolving, which means that I am continually learning. It is this aspect, of being on the cutting edge, which especially interests me.
My academic background is mathematical. I have a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics and Social Sciences. I then discovered computer science, which interested me greatly, continuing my studies to Computer Science and Management. Indeed, as I hoped to further extend this basic degree, I enrolled in a high- tech engineering school, studying Information Systems.
The position of Project Analyst involves two main activities: programming and analysis. However, as well as mastering information technology, one must understand how to use it, in a practical sense. Teamwork is essential. I work with people who are both highly technical, as they are programmers, and people who are very financially oriented, as they are bankers. One must know how to adapt and have a good sense of communication, and interpersonal skills, as it is important to listen to the needs of others in order to co-ordinate the bank's needs with the new technological means we have at our disposal.
Normally one becomes Project Manager and then Team Leader, however I have decided to turn towards the financial side of the bank because I believe that this would increase my opportunities and present more possibilities.
